WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump called on the NFL Tuesday to establish a rule that would bar players from kneeling during the national anthem.

The tweet marks the President’s latest in an ongoing attack on the NFL and its players, many of whom had knelt during the national anthem to protest police brutality.

Trump’s criticism has received blowback from both players and team owners, many of whom have accused the President of engaging in divisive language. However, others, including Steeler fans took to burning jerseys of players whom they felt disrespected the flag.

While continuing to lash out at players kneeling during the anthem, Trump praised the Dallas Cowboys and its owner, Jerry Jones, for kneeling before the anthem Monday night but then locking arms and standing during the song itself.
