WASHINGTON (Talk Media News) – After the Department of Defense decided to lift all gender-based restrictions on military service beginning in 2016, Lawrence G. Romo, the Director of Selective Service System (SSS) told reporters that it’s quite likely that females will have to sign up for Selective Service in coming years.

Speaking at the National Press Club, Romo said there is 50 percent chance that Congress will pass changes to the current draft registration process to require women to sign up upon turning 18.

According to Romo, such a change will take about 2 to 5 years to be implemented if passed.
