WASHINGTON – A Pentagon official with access to the official U.S. Defense Department Twitter account @DeptofDefense “erroneously” retweeted a post Thursday calling for President Donald Trump to resign as part of the simple solution to confronting sexual misconduct.

Pentagon spokeswomen Dana White said the “authorized operator … erroneously retweeted content that would not be endorsed by the Department of Defense,” and then caught the error and immediately un-retweeted it.

The @DeptofDefense Twitter handle has 5.2 million followers.

The retweeted post from @ProudResister ‏reads: “The solution is simple… Roy Moore: Step down from the race. Al Franken: Resign from Congress. Donald Trump: Resign from the presidency. GOP: Stop making sexual assault a partisan issue. It’s a crime as is your hypocrisy.”
