WASHINGTON – President Trump shared highly classified information with the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting last week, according to a Washington Post report, citing anonymous current and former U.S. officials.
Trump disclosed information that had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement, The Post reported.
The information was considered extremely sensitive an was not supposed to be shared with Russia. The source who provided the information has ties to the inner workings of ISIS, The Post reported. Senior White House officials tried to take steps to contain the damage, The Post said.
“This is code-word information,” a U.S. official familiar with the incident told The Post. Trump “revealed more information to the Russian ambassador than we have shared with our own allies.”
