WASHINGTON – More than half of the American electorate believes that Vice President Mike Pence is the most effective spokesperson for the Trump administration, according to a recent Monmouth University poll released on Wednesday.
The survey found that 53 percent of the respondents believe Pence is the administration’s most effective messenger, compared with 33 percent who said the same about President Donald Trump.
The poll’s respondents rated the White House communications team slightly lower than that of the president.
Twenty-eight percent said that both White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer and White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway are the administration’s most effective messengers. Twenty-three percent said the same about White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
The Monmouth University sampling included 1,002 respondents and was carried out May 13-17. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
Many political and media pundits have argued that Trump’s frequent Twitter use has hindered the White House’s ability on many occasions to foster cogent messaging for the administration.
