WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday that first lady Melania Trump is “doing really well” following kidney surgery on Monday, adding that he expects her to leave the hospital in “2 or 3 days.”

The first lady underwent “an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition,” according to her communications director, Stephanie Grisham.

“The procedure was successful and there were no complications,” Grisham said. “Mrs. Trump is at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will likely remain there for the duration of the week.”

On Monday evening, the president made an unannounced visit to the Bethesda, Md. hospital, where he stayed for over an hour.
