WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump will visit California on Saturday and meet with those affected by the state’s devastating wildfires, the White House confirmed Thursday.

The details surrounding where and who the president will visit have not yet been disclosed.

Trump’s initial public response to the fires, which has now killed at least 56 people, sparked controversy.

He has since moderated his tone.

Trump discussed disaster relief during a meeting with Senate leaders Thursday afternoon, according to White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley.
