WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump tweeted Friday that lawmakers need to demand an unpublished manuscript penned by his former fixer, Michael Cohen, claiming that it will counter the testimony Cohen gave to Congress this week.

“Michael Cohen’s book manuscript shows that he committed perjury on a scale not seen before,” Trump claimed. “He must have forgotten about his book when he testified.”

Trump made his appeal in five separate twitter posts.

Cohen testified publicly before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Wednesday, painting an unflattering portrait of Trump as a corrupt businessman who routinely violated the law.

He also spoke with lawmakers behind closed doors on Tuesday and Thursday.

Reports of Cohen’s book was initially reported last year, but Fox News host Tucker Carlson revisited the issue Thursday evening.

Cohen’s team has not yet publicly responded to the president’s tweets.
